It Started With a Simple Question

If we wouldn't let our children play with untested toys, why do we accept it for our dogs?

That question changed everything. After researching the pet toy industry, we discovered something troubling: most dog toys undergo little to no safety testing. No checks for heavy metals. No standards for material toxicity. No accountability for what ends up in your dog's mouth every single day.

For us, that wasn't good enough. We believed our companions deserved the same care and attention we give to the most vulnerable members of our families — our children.

We set out to create pet toys held to the same rigorous standards as baby goods — because our dogs deserve nothing less.

And so Finley & Tale was born. Not just as a pet brand, but as a promise: that every toy we make will be crafted from pure, non-toxic materials and tested to infant-grade laboratory standards. Every single one.

What We Believe

Safety Is Not Optional

Every Finley & Tale product is tested to the same laboratory standards as human baby toys. We screen for over 100 regulated chemicals, test for structural durability under extreme bite force, and certify that every material that touches your dog is free from BPAs, phthalates, lead, and cadmium. This isn't a marketing claim, it's a verifiable promise.

Pure Materials, No Shortcuts

We source only the finest natural and organic materials; sustainable Hevea rubber, organic cotton, earth-derived dyes. We never use synthetic compounds, cheap fillers, or mystery plastics. If we wouldn't put it in a baby's mouth, it doesn't go in our toys.

Every great tale has a hero, and ours has four paws and a very discerning palate for chew toys.

Finley is the loyal companion who started it all, the one who deserved better than what the pet aisle had to offer. The one who chewed through countless toys that we later learned were made from materials we'd never knowingly bring into our home.

Today, Finley is our chief product tester, our quality inspector, and the reason we hold ourselves to standards that most pet brands wouldn't even consider. Every toy we make has to pass the Finley test first.

Our Process

How We Test Every Toy

From raw material to finished product, every Finley & Tale creation goes through a rigorous four-stage process to earn our seal of integrity.

Stage One

Material Sourcing

We start at the source. Every material is vetted for purity, sustainability, and safety before it ever enters our workshop. We work directly with certified suppliers of natural rubber and organic cotton.

Stage Two

Chemical Screening

Raw materials are tested for over 100 regulated substances; including heavy metals, phthalates, BPAs, formaldehyde, and volatile organic compounds. The same battery of tests required for baby products.

Stage Three

Structural Testing

Finished toys undergo stress testing for bite force resistance, tensile strength, and long-term durability. We simulate months of heavy chewing to ensure every toy holds up to real-world play.

Stage Four

The Finley Test

Before any product goes to market, it has to pass the most important test of all, approval from Finley and our panel of discerning canine testers. If they don't love it, neither will your dog.
